WoDh: You have been on the scene for quite some time now, what is your most memorable moment
Andre: I have been djing for 14 years now and have a lot of memories, great places and great gigs but the most memorable was actually not a long time ago.
2 years ago I made a debut in Ibiza, a place that I always dreamed to play and this dream did come true.
I played in a few small bars and big Club like Eden. I played at sunrise in Kanya bar – something that I will never forget. It's just amazing watching people falling deep when listening to the music while the sun is waking up.
WoDh: *Smiles… Where do you see yourself in 3 years time?
Andre: That's a good question – I'm focusing more now on my own productions. I want them to be really good and on a professional level, with my style easily recognisable.
Still lots of hard work to do but I'm learning every day :)
It's a great feeling when you can share your love with other people and that's why I'm doing this and if people like that – my tracks and sets – that's your reward.
Hopefully in three years time I will still be mixing and producing because I don't see myself in the future in any other way than I am now :)
WoDh: Who is your favorite artist at the moment, outside of yourself of course ;)
Andre: There's a whole army of great artists that I love and I couldn't simply choose just one but at this time there is few that deserve a mention, like Jimpster, Everen Ulusoy, The Timewritter, Jesus Pablo, Maya Jane Coles, Marvin Zeyss, Lovebirds, Milton Jackson and I could go on and on :)
WoDh: Do you have a partner and if so who are they and how do they support your music?
Andre: Yes I do and we are getting married this June the 25th :) She is just amazing and fully supports my addiction to the music and actually she became addicted to good music too.
She never bothers me to do the dishes or do the laundry or any other chores if I'm inspired and spending the whole weekend in front of the computer :)
And she loves when I talk about new stuff that I finished or when it will be released and she's always happy for my success – even if it's some really tiny thing that to some is not worth mentioning.
She makes my the happiest man in the world.
WoDh: What's your story on how you got started?
Andre: Ahh!! yes, the how I started thing :) Well it started pretty normal I guess. I was 15 and quickly able to filter shitty radio hits banging all day, to find some good quality and underground music.
Instead of going to the discotheque I was more interested in those small, dark clubs. Somehow the atmosphere was much better in those and I loved it, especially that all the attention was always for the guy behind the decks – sort of like a magician.
So I started to look into that. I managed to get my first belt turntables and started to collect records.
With the help of my friends we created a music group called Minimalistics to organise and promote techno music in my region – good times, great party's and awesome people. I loved the way the music we played connected people in those days.
At first it was the techno music I fell in love with.
After a few years though, I left Poland to move to the UK and totally changed my music preferences to House, Funky House, Soulful House and of course, Deep House.
For the last four years I'm mostly into Deep House, Deep Tech, Tech House. And so this the short version of how I started :)
WoDh: What are the top 3 most important things in your life
Andre: There are two most important things that happened in my life and the third one is just about to happen.
First one was when I went to the Army for a year – that was the first big thing that changed my life.
As my father used to say – the army is a school of life and indeed it was.
Not very much part of my music life but it has made some fundamental changes in me.
The next one was when I decided to move to the UK. That one had a huge impact on everything I was doing before – my personal life, djing, career.
All my friends have been left behind, along with my family and that was for sure one of the hardest decision in my life (so far :)).
Now the third one is going to happen in June. As I mentioned before, I'm getting married and this was actually the easiest decision in my life. And I wasn't even forced to do it :) This will definitely change my life for good and I just can't wait for it.
WoDh: What can we expect from you in the near future?
Andre: As we speak now, there are a few tunes that will pop out across this year in all different labels such as Disclosure Project, Pesto and UM Records.
This month (June) there will be a premiere of new label – SoundBar Records and for this occasion they are releasing the SoundBar Compliation : ONE which includes my track "The Sun is out" on a limited cd.
Of course there will also be a digital version available to buy from Beatport or WhatPeoplePlay.
A few projects needs to be finished but that will have to wait until after I come back from my honeymoon trip to Mexico and of course there is my monthly podcast – THE GROOVEBAR on one of the biggest Polish internet radio stations – Houseradio.pl
The radioshow is always on the last Saturday of the month starting 5pm GMT. If you wish to see the fresh news about my latest podcasts, mixes or release info visit www.AndreDetoxx.com
WoDh: If you could play your tunes anywhere in the world, what would be your dream location to do so?
Andre: I actually wish to play regular deep house or deep tech as a resident in lounge bars or clubs in London. I have been working with a few promoters but times are changed and I don't have the time to run around and sell tickets just to secure myself a slot for the event, so yeah that's just that one wish :) Playing locally and regularly.
WoDh: Thanks so much for these great answers, you definitely have a lot going on. In your music, your heart, your passions. And we wish you the best in all of them!
